5 Brilliant Bloggers That Make Me A Smarter Internet Marketer

Even though I have been in Internet marketing for 13 years I continue to read…a lot.  But when it comes to blogs that I read there are only a handful that I subscribe to because the content is fantastic.  It helps me to gain the perspective of other successful online business owners even on topics I “know.”  Everything I know is filtered through my life experiences and beliefs no matter how hard I try to be objective.

You should read the following bloggers, because you’ll become a smarter online entrepreneur and gain a new perspective, too.

(not in any particular order–they’re all great)

Ridiculously Extraordinary by Karol Gajda

Karol has agreed to be on the show. Woohoo! So I won’t say too much about him and you’ll have to wait for the interview.

He was (is) an internet marketer who had become successful by the common American definition, but wasn’t happy with it.  He has sold or given away most everything he owns and is traveling the world while building an audience for his blog.  Karol has a very inspiring story.  I can’t wait for you and me to hear it from him in person.

Viperchill by Glen Allsopp

Glen started online at 15 years old and by 17 was making thousands each month.  He is currently in his early 20s (I’ll have to his current age from him if I can get him on the show) and traveling the world. Notice a trend? I enjoy traveling and plan to do a Round-The-World trip in 2011 to meet FA listeners.

Glen’s site has some of the most insightful and practical hands-on knowledge on the Internet making his site a must read for me.  I’m not ashamed to call Glen a mentor (though we haven’t met yet) even though he is nearly 20 years younger than me.  Make sure you subscribe to his site and read everything he puts out.

Think Traffic & Free Pursuits by Corbett Barr

Another traveling Internet entrepreneur I like reading.  Corbett has some excellent articles on Think Traffic about how to build an audience with examples of what he did and how it worked.  Go through the archives of Think Traffic for a primer on growing your visitors.  He also has a site called Free Pursuits which is about lifestyle design (a term coined by Tim Ferriss), which I enjoy reading, too.  Corbett may make an appearance on the show in January.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

The Smart Passive Income Blog by Pat Flynn

Will be on the show soon. Yay!  Next week you will be listening to Mr. Flynn.  This will be a great interview.  [edit: Smart Passive Income Interview]  I’ll keep this one short too.  Pat started a blog about his prep for an architecture certification test called LEED.  He turned it into an ebook and that became a full-time income.  Pat has gone from selling that one ebook to a full-fledged Internet entrepreneur.  His articles and his podcast are very informative and helpful.  He shows you the details of his online efforts and guides you how to use that information.

The Launch Coach by Dave Navarro

Dave Navarro, Internet Marketer Not Rockstar Guitarist, has great articles on leveraging your customer list and growing your customer base.  Some are fairly advanced tactics, but his writing style makes the information accessible to those just getting started.  And sometimes using an advanced tactic when starting out can get you explosive growth.  I hope to get Dave on the show early in 2011.

This is an excellent (I expect no less, heh-heh) collection of amazing “reads.” Thanks — and thanks for all of the great info all of the time.

I’ve been so busy following your advice and getting ready for my own launch that I haven’t had a chance to pop in recently from lurk status. Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all of the foolish guidance, linkage, and goodness from you both!

    Thanks again!

Here’s a bonus blog for y’all: http://selfmademinds.com I have learned a lot from Al and Scott and it has helped me and my clients make thousands. They don’t post much, but their archives are invaluable.

Any good recommendations for female internet marketers to look up to?

Lynn Terry over at Clicknewz.com. She is inspiring. I just don’t read her stuff much.

Cool, never heard of her. Thanks for the suggestion, Tim.

Like I said in the article, I read a lot. I have to know what is going on in Internet marketing and online business to give my clients the best information possible. Not just what is trending, but what actually works. I don’t read Lynn’s stuff mostly because she does a lot of Internet product reviews, which aren’t useful to me. However, she makes her living creating niche sites that promote affiliate products and she is very good at it.
