Hey Izzy (and Tim if you’re reading),
Not sure if you check this email address as I know it’s primarily set up for your aweber mailing list but thought it’s worth a shot anyway. Firstly, and I know you probably get this quite often, congrats on such a fantastic podcast, I really admire what you and Tim are both doing. You have such a fantastic approach to Internet Marketing and you manage to keep it fresh, exciting and interesting each day. I’ve been hooked from your first podcast and it certainly gets me through some long journeys from my home in the country to the big city of Melbourne. I have also listened to each of your podcasts a number of times and find little gems hidden in there each time.
My ultimate reason for this email is honestly just to send a big thank you to both of you. I am a 23 year old, male, single parent, with full care of my daughter Riley (2 years old) and have been “stuck” working in a business which honestly brought me down on a regular basis. The funny thing is, it was my own business, which I had assumed would give me the freedom to live a greater lifestyle out of the usual 9 – 5 corporate scenario. I had studied as a graphic designer and made the decision to go full time in web development, but running that business has opened my eyes to how people can take advantage of you, it really can be a nasty world out there. I also realised the sites I developed were more financially beneficial for my clients than myself, helping them make some large sums of money and even networking. Money isn’t my goal, a simpler and more exciting life for my daughter and I is, but financial security can help a lot.
12 months ago I decided to take on extra study, as well as remaining in my business and looking after my daughter. I am now a fully qualified personal trainer, something that I have always had a passion for and wanted to do. From the day my daughter was born I focussed on creating a active and healthy lifestyle for her, and being a PT helps me continue that each day. I had an idea one day, to take the three things in life that I am most passionate about and share my knowledge and experience with others. The first of these is obviously being a parent, my daughter is the highlight of my life and I blessed that she makes parenting an absolute joy, even though it’s stressful being just her and I. The second was PT, I love staying active and healthy, I always have, and I wondered if it was possible to develop a Kids PT Business. Then I realised if I could take my experience as a web developer, combine it with my passion for active lifestyles and add the joy and experience of parenthood, that I could create something that I hope would benefit a larger audience worldwide.
As money is sometimes tight, and my daughter takes financial priority over my own interests, I knew buying in to IM courses wasn’t a viable option. I also know a lot of it is the same old regurgitated garbage, just in a prettier or more “unique” format and display. Spending my free hours, late at night, researching IM, designing layouts and coding a site, it was these late nights where I found Foolish Adventure. WOW! Everything I stand for, believe and want to learn about Internet Marketing was here! Your podcast got me through some late nights, with many laughs along the way, and I really felt like I was part of the group.
It is because of your podcast I was able to analyze my perspective for wanting an IM lifestyle, and it honestly reflected everything I wanted out of a business. Not for the money, but to lead a greater, more exciting life for myself and my daughter, and in turn, help many others around the world. The financial benefits are still there, but in the background, and that is what will hopefully allow me to expand, and help parents and children create their active and healthy lifestyles.
Through a lot of hard work, research, dedication and also discovering your podcast, I have been able to launch my first online venture, FitKids Online. At this stage it is only a free to access site, but I have developed my first product to share and build my list, and aim to have my members site up online by the end of January, 2011.
So thank you both so much for creating such an inspiring and educational learning experience. I honestly do hope you have taken the time to read this, it would mean a lot to me as an avid listener and supporter of you both.
Kind Regards,
Craig Strike
