FA013 – Paid Traffic Tactics To Grow Online Sales Quickly

Tips, Tactics and Warnings Regarding Paid Traffic

Hi again!

Tim and I promised we would talk about paid traffic, so here’s a show that digs into this wild and crazy subject. Because my own experience is limited with this type of traffic-building, I decided to squeeze the information out of Tim through an intense interview (which he survived just fine).

If you’ve been thinking about trying this method for traffic, listen well and take notes. This show is packed full of great stuff.

Enjoy!

All the best,

Izzy

What is the best way to approach bloggers about running my affiliate ad? Or just how to use the ad. I got approved by Getty Images for the program but am lost on how to make it effective. Would I be better off steering people to my website or using my affiliate? Thanks and great show. I have so much to learn!

    Another great episode cheers guys.

Could I ask Tim 2 questions

    1. the scenario with taking content from a membership site and making a separate product, presumably as mentioned you need to add more to it. Is this so people who buy it don’t complain when they find they could have got the same content and access to more had they joined the membership site instead?

    2. could this work in reverse to be the precursor of a membership site so you do a single product first to check how good you are at making the content and if there is a market for the product you can then move it into a membership site as a headstart for the content you needfor the membership site plus you have a list of people who already trust you who might sign up?

    thanks paul

Can you rephrase your questions for me? I’m not sure what you are asking.

    1. Adding more to a string of videos (or any kind of content) is only necessary when the content wasn’t originally designed to be a stand-alone course.

The people who buy the single product may eventually become a member, but you wouldn’t market the product to members who have already paid for the bulk of the content. Your current members will be a great source for testimonials when you go to launch the new product.

    2. In reverse, the idea of being fair still comes up. You don’t want to charge twice for the same product. You can include your stand-alone products in your membership site for free to members or you could give a free membership to buyers of the products to a point that is fair.

Again, you have a source of testimonials when you market your membership site to new people.

As for selling to your current customers, well, there is no better place to make more money than with people who have already bought from you as long as you are adding value.

great stuff again and love your style of presentation

would appreciate a future episode that addresses the situation of a niche that does not yet have a real presence on the web – so some of the free traffic methods do not apply.

would also be interested in a case study of someone who provides written or audio material – found the woodwhisperer interview very useful and the Izzy video examples but would appreciate some examples using other media.

    thanks

I guess what I meant was say I discovered an izzy course on lighting via google adwords (!) and paid one off $120 to access 20 videos for the product – then later I found his membership site and for a year (with all the dozens of videos it contains including the lighting ones I had just seen) was $120 per year I wouldn’t be happy unless the stand alone course had extra stuff in it that wasn’t in the membership site.

or maybe it would be lighting course $47 – then offer them to upgrade membership at $50 afterwards so they got a deal?

my head is spinning with foolishness!

    Paul,

What you’ve highlighted is a pricing/value problem. If you are going to charge as much as your main product for a single product, then it must have as much or more value.

If someone wants to become great at lighting, then taking your initial lighting content and then building it into a full lighting course would solve that for a prospect. Then whatever happens to be in your general membership site would have little bearing on the value the person got from the lighting course.

We will eventually have case studies of people using other media, but the tactics and strategies are nearly the same for getting traffic and building a business.

Be wary of a niche that doesn’t have a real presence. Either you have found a rare opening and are the first into the niche or others have come and gone because they couldn’t figure out how to make a living from it.

Putting out great content, searching forums for like minded people and networking with facebook and twitter will be enough to get your start in a wide open niche.

Hope you don’t mind be chipping in but if Helena is referring to moving away from video based training (like tim and the woodworker) …

I was checking by searching on clickbank and found there are loads of subjects that suit audio, for example counselling/life coaching where people like mp3′s to listen on their ipod or in the car or in bed.

There are lots of people offering audio download products.

My other half is a counsellor and is looking at giving help to insomniacs.

I suggested she called it “Sleep with Susan” but she wasn’t impressed!

But then it pays to be Foolish!

Sleeping With Susan could be a cool name.

Thank you very much for these podcasts, i enjoy them.
I had an idea for an advertisement measure:
you open a small side physical business that relates to your business
you then put your website sticker on the product
I’ve done this and the business itself profited and brought in new customers
