Lifestyle Business Design Roundtable – FA043

How To Design Your Business To Support Your Lifestyle

This episode brings to you a couple of really smart and successful online entrepreneurs, Dan & Ian of LifestyleBusinessPodcast.com.

You’re about to get great information and inspiration from guys who sell–wait for it…real physical products!  Who knew that people still bought stuff you can touch.

Here at Foolish Adventure, we live off ones and zeros, but not only is it possible to sell physical products – you can even build a successful business.

What’s best about this episode is partnership.  The roundtable was meant to be physical vs. digital products, but turned more into discussing lifestyle and business building strategies, especially the power of great partnerships.

There is also discussion of an idea that Tim thinks is pure genius.  Let’s see who takes credit for it.

We all had so much fun and we felt there was so much more we could cover together we decided to do a part two soon.

Check out Dan & Ian’s podcast over at Lifestyle Business Podcast and listen to Episode #57 because it goes really well with this roundtable discussion.

Then go over to TropicalMBA for some lifestyle and business inspiration.

Next follow @AnythingIan and @TropicalMBA on Twitter.

Finally, enjoy your Foolish Adventure,

I came across your guys’ podcast when Pat Flynn mentioned it in a post. And I’ve been obsessed ever since. Recently, I have taken the time to break down and study each individual episode. I’ve began to take notes and really try to understand what’s being taught. After which I can say, the COST of the podcast my be free, but the WORTH is priceless if understood and applied.
    Thanks a ton guys.

I am a few episodes behind, and haven’t had a chance to listen to this one either, but when I saw physical product being mentioned I just had to chime in.
Apart from a couple of online project I have going on at the moment, I actually started one which involves selling a physical product. I picked up the idea on a forum which I frequented. Someone has made something that everyone wanted, including me. Problem was, he made a one-off item just for himself and was not interested in making more. Everyone just said “oh, too bad” but myself, I could not get it out of my head. It was so bad that after a couple of months I decided to try and create this product. Now keep in mind that this involved forging and finishing metal, and I knew absolutely nothing about it. But what I did know is how to find people who know and who can help me, and I knew people who wanted the product. I just had to connect the two!
So I invested in production, hooked up with some people who turned out really nice and dealt with metalworks. I just got the first prototype last week. Next week those will be sent to another guy for finishing and then the first one will get sold. Woo-hoo! In the mean time I created a site for promoting the product, employing everything I knew; mailing list, blogging, galleries – staying in touch with the prospective customers. Making them feel they are a part of the process.
The entire process felt great – in a few weeks I’ll let you know if it tuned out well money-wise too. :)

Just some food for thought for your listeners.

So few people take action and wonder why they don’t succeed. Glad to see you doing what it takes to get an idea into the world. Good luck.
