Making Money Online: Behind the Scenes – FA018

Here’s another show where Izzy and Tim pull back the curtain on how they monetized the Foolish Adventure show…

The Foolish Adventure Show will always be free.  That was the promise made in the beginning and it will always remain, but we need to be able to fund this show.  We set out to give the best of our knowledge for free, but knew many would want specific how-to information that a show format really couldn’t deliver.

In this show, you’ll hear the thought process behind how we planned to make money and we explain the steps used to launch “The Foolish Guide to Creating a Website With WordPress.”

Enjoy the show!

    Hey Izzy and Tim,

I really need to share a testimonial with you guys. I’ve been an Internet Marketer since January of 2008 and I’ve learned a ton since I started. I’ve built a number of blogs and have been relatively successful making money online, even while working a full time job. I’m also an Izzy Video member, and have used the training that I’ve learnt from Izzy to do a lot of video stuff.

Here’s the thing. I must say that when I first heard about foolish adventure, I didn’t think much of it. In my mind, I really wasn’t going to get anything from it. I thought I knew enough to continue doing what I was doing and continue grow my business.

However, I’ve listened to EVERY episode, some of them more than once, and I want to let you know what it has done for me. It has given me INSPIRATION. I always talk to my subscribers about Taking Action. However, listening to Foolish Adventure has shown me that I wasn’t taking enough action.

When I listened to episode 15, I was inspired to take action and release a full information product with Video Training teaching how to get started online. I left a comment saying that I was going to do so by the Monday and Tim said to let you know on Monday that I got it done. I spent a ton of hours putting together the program and it ended up being much bigger than I thought, and the response has been overwhelming.

Since then, I’ve gotten hundreds of subscribers, lots of comments and feedback, and lots of excited new internet marketers thanking me for everything I did in the program. Also, I’ve had a huge blogger contact me asking me to be a regular contributor to his blog, and have gotten great exposure for this.

If I wasn’t listening to Foolish Adventure, the product would’ve still been a thought in the back of my mind. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. What you guys are doing is EXTREMELY Valuable and useful for experienced and inexperienced marketers alike.

Keep up the GREAT work, and I’ll continue listening in and having my foolish adventure. If there’s ever ANYTHING I can do to help, please let me know.

    Thanks guys, SO MUCH!

    Leslie

Thanks for the kind words. We really appreciate you listening and sharing your adventure with us. Would you be interested in doing an interview on the show? I bet a lot of our listeners would be interested in a high school science and math teacher becoming an online entrepreneur.

I did enjoy the peek behind the scenes. You have great ideas, and it is tremendous that you are using this format to share with us. It helps to know that even you two have to deal with the emotions and rationalizations – then logic.

Will you share what you use to do the podcast, is that what it is called? Why did you decide to “talk” rather than “video” – it is great, it works, and I want to use this same tool! Yes, I am just getting started.

I am anxious ready to start my wordpress and get my business started. Thank you for not going with the $2000 marketing course. Foolish Guides!!!!! No you are not selfish, I expect you both will have the “Foolish” t-shirts.

I’d love to do that. I enjoy doing interviews and just connecting with others on the topic of online business. Always fun stuff. Shoot me a message and we can set up the interview. We can do skype, phone, or whatever :)

    I’m down!

I already had a wordpress blog at wordpress.com when I bought the training for creating your own business through wordpress.org. I sort of got stuck in the middle when signing up to the hosting company. Then I realized that there was a difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org. Of what I understood, wordpress.org allows more plugins and wordpress.com does not allow them since they are already pre-installed and built into the system. My questions to you is as follows: In the process of creating my own business I get stuck frequently and stop moving forward. I feel many a times I need a mentor to get me unstuck to keep going. Have you guys thought of offering individual foolish coaching or free/discounted individual mentorship to people wanting to create their own business? I would sign up immediately for a mentor. I wold not like to bug the mentor like crazy, but with a little push, and not much effort the mentor can help me solve little problems that sometimes become overwhelming for somebody like me who is a newbie. Sorry for this long comment. I do not want to overwhelm anybody.

Thanks again for your wonderful episodes. I always look forward to listening to them. They have become my favorite entertainment/education experience (I am sad you took the Monday one away).

Keep on doing what you are doing!

    Thanks

    Patricia

    Patricia,

Do you think that the Foolish Adventure readers/listeners can help one another ?

Or is it to heavy to set up ?

  • Patriciawydler

Didier: I think we can and it must be easier than what we think. Especially with all the technology that is available to us.

Maybe we can create audio episodes (just like Izzy and Tim) that we can post where two newbies discuss one project at a time. However there is always the fear of having somebody rob your idea and instead of helping you hurt you.
