Build Your Online Store With Terry Lin – FA127

A Pay Now Podcasting Tale

This week my friend and mastermind member, Terry Lin of BuildMyOnlineStore.com, joins us to talk about Pay Now Podcasting, building your online store, podcasting about ecommerce, and ecommercing about podcasts. Okay, that last one doesn’t make any sense.

Terry started a podcast about ecommerce by interviewing online store owners. He brings out their ups and downs and successes and failures in their ecommerce adventure. These entrepreneurship stories are inspiring, but also very informative. His show fits a need in the market which is getting an ecommerce education from insiders.

Another lesson, which I really should have spent more time on in the interview, is the connections Terry has been able to make in a very short time. Execs at Shopify have reached out to him. He has been able to interview top-notch entrepreneurs and has built up a ton of credibility and is fast becoming known as a leader in the ecommerce field. This is one of the top reasons to focus on Pay Now Podcasting.

It’s strange, for a medium that was considered dead just a few years ago, it is catapulting a lot of careers right now. Not many people can get a guest appearance on their blog, but nearly anyone can get top people in their market to do an interview on their podcast. Oh, and you did read that right — I did write “careers.” You can launch your entrepreneurship career with a podcast and you can get yourself hired by a great company from doing a podcast. Anytime you’re considered to be leader in a field it opens a ton of opportunities. It’s up to you which direction you go.

So, listen in to this episode and learn about podcasting, ecommerce and building your online store.

Enjoy your Foolish Ecommercing,

Tim “Get Paid” Conley

Big fan of Terry’s podcast’s and interviews.
I started watching The Shark Tank because of Terry’s mentions and the people he has interviewed who have been on that show. Interesting to see them on The Shark Tank and then get a behind the scenes interview with Terry.
So many good interviews have helped me out in innumerable ways.
Off the top of my head I’m particularly a big fan of the couple Shopify interviews, Dan TMBA’s, and others.

Yeah I agree about more prep on commerce stores, it’s ridiculous. I did an ecommerce store with BigCommerce a year ago, and it really struggled until I did paid Google advertising – and that helped heaps with organic SEO too, but BC did little or nothing to help me with SEO, needless to say I moved onto a more profitable way to make money online. Shame, the store had potential, but I didn’t have the training.

Wow. Terry what great work you’ve done here. This is going to be a winner.

++ Tim is working his magic on this one. IN THE ZONE. There are so few people who can break biz problems down like Tim. Super inspiring.

    Wow good point.
This will change the way I listen to the interviews by listening to the way Tim is directing the flow.

You know you’ve recorded a great episode when your listeners are tempted to get their own transcripts made :P Thanks for sharing this, guys

Great show! I’ve been having fun doing a weekly podcast interviewing small and mid-sized Canadian businesses. Ironically, the first person to send in a comment was a listener from Texas!

I keep contemplating having transcripts done. Maybe one of these days I’ll pull the trigger on it.
