Real Business Vs Making Money – FA055

Take a look at most of the Internet Marketing courses out there — they focus on making money.

Few focus on building a sustainable business. Why?

Building a business can’t be done with a “magic bullet” system or a single marketing technique like using Cost Per Action (CPA) networks or Facebook advertising.

Magic bullet systems are really sexy to sell. They hit the greed glands hard and avoid that nasty four-letter word …WORK.

Join us on this exploration of “Making Money” versus a “Real Business.” We cover “making money,” self-employment and sustainable business systems.

You’ll get an inside look at areas Izzy needs to make changes in his businesses so that he can go from self-employed to a business owner.

There is nothing wrong with “making money” as your motivator in starting your business, but if you wish to continue making money even if you’re physically or mentally unable to work, then you should listen to this episode to find ways you can build a Real Business.

Good show, boys! You can sell something without having a business, but you can’t have a business without selling something.

which explains why my last business failed – no sales. ;)

Oh! thanks for the mention… liked this distinction a lot.

Not a problem. I think our listeners should check out LBP.

Funny how a pesky little thing like “no sales” will stop a business in its tracks.

Awesome! I like this and will be using it in the future.

Whoa. Up until a few moments ago when I saw their comment images I thought Izzy was Tim and Tim was Izzy. It’s weird having to readjust that mental image.

Hey Izzy! I do customer service from home for two online companies. One
pays me a flat-rate monthly fee. The other pays me a percentage of the
profits each month. One uses a help desk ticket system which forwards me
an email to alert me. The other set up a customer service email that
forwards to my email address. In one case, I was hired because I had an
existing relationship with the company. In the other, the person
approached me because of my expertise with their business. At first I
was just consulting with them, but it eventually turned into more. So,
in both cases, before I had access and trust with their customers, I had
established an existing relationship. It’s been great for me to have
some more income along side my personal online business, as well as work
I can do from home. It doesn’t have to be a scary thing! There are lots
of good people out there who are trustworthy and do great work and
would love to work from home.

I love it when you sneak T.I.M. into the podcast ;-)

    Hey guys,

I was listening to this podcast whilst I was driving over to the shops to do some grocery shopping on a Monday and I picked up a lot of “issues” Izzy says he was facing. About taking him outside of the business and I can see your frustrations about not having systems and also the need for outsourcing. Personally I was sitting in that situation as well and didn’t want to be strapped down with customer support and having to do the administration side of things, let alone doing video editing of my videos for my Youtube channel. So I hired a full time VA and also a fully time video editor from the Philippines who are wonderful and they’ve taken over these issues that you were expressing on the podcast. I can sympathise with you because it’s the uncertainty of whether this person will do what they say and work the hours they say… That’s beyond our control to a certain extent, and all I can say is I’ve put boundaries in place for them and it allows them to have the freedom to work within those boundaries and to delivery based on results and not on hourly work. I hope that makes sense?

Anyway would love to share more with you and can’t wait for your next show.

    Thanks!

Outsourcing and systems management are things we should go into more depth on. Hit me up on twitter and we can see about doing a show on it with you.

I’m wanting to do another episode dedicated to T.I.M. I sure do like talking about TIM.

People confuse Izzy and me all the time. We’re practically twins! :-)
