Sell ‘em What They Want – FA070

Give ‘em What They Need

This episode of The Foolish Adventure Show is all about business innovation — from products to customer service and it’s all wrapped in the concept of “sell ‘em what they want, but give ‘em what they need.”

Also, welcome Lain Ehmann back to the show. Lain has decided to become a part time cohost for the show. I think her experiences in her niches and her membership site will bring back some of the consultant/business owner dynamic that former Foolish cohost Izzy brought to the show.

I think Lain and I were both a bit surprised by some of the actionable nuggets of wisdom that sprang up while we recorded.

Listen in and learn how to grow and innovate around what your customers want and need.

Enjoy your Foolish Adventure,

Tim and Lain

So, basically, you sell the solutions to their problem, and sell them on your product being the solution……?

  • http://FoolishAdventure.com Tim Conley

Johan, if I had said it like that then I couldn’t have made a 40 minute show. :-) You may have heard the term “manufactured desire.” Nearly all modern marketing is based on this. Sometimes people don’t know they have a problem so marketers make one up for them so that their product can be the solution. I don’t advocate this kind of marketing, but it is effective. However, if you really are solving someone’s problem then you need to let them know you have the solution.

Hahahaha, too funny. I’m all for stretching it out over 40 minutes or more ;)

Yes, I am familiar with the concept (but didn’t know the actual term).

There’s an amazing documentary that touches on this:

It’s ridiculously good, but very, very long. If you ever have a chance, watch in parts, but do check it out.

I love Lain. More Lain please. She is the female Izzy.

That’s what I thought, too. :-) Lain will probably be on the show every other week.

Thanks, Laura-Jane. I will pay you later. ;)
    Bwahahaa!
Also… too funny on the “female Izzy.” No wonder Noell puts up with me!
