Get Serious in November: PRODUCT 30

You’ve heard Tim talks about the three product approach and how important it is for your online business.

And if you’re like a lot of folks, you’ve really meant to get that first product up, but a ton of other things decided to get in the way.  From not being able to figure out what it is that you want for a product ladder, exactly, to never having enough time — there’s just a long list of reasons why your product is still residing somewhere in your head rather than on your hard drive…or better, on your site.In November, we’re challenging you to finally take the time.

Sometimes, the difference between doing something and just thinking about doing something is as simple as committing to it.  To sit yourself down in a chair and decide that, once and for all, it’s time to actually do it, both for your business and your customers.

We think it’s high time that product got made.  And we’re here to help.

Introducing: PRODUCT 30

While some folks are off writing novels in a month, we’ve got something a little more practical in mind:  30 days of email and community support, where you’ll come out on the other side with a product in-hand.  We’re sending daily emails with ideas and tips, and all you have to do is commit to sitting down in your chair and doing the work you’ve been thinking about forever.

Whether it’s your first, free product or your big whopper of a paid product doesn’t matter.  The steps are the same, and PRODUCT 30 is limited only by your imagination and the time you invest in it.

The way it works:
Just sign up to be included.  PRODUCT 30 is completely free to participants for an entire month’s worth of training and daily email support.

Join P30 & Create A Product In 30 Days

The day before the month starts, your welcome letter will arrive, and every morning for all of November, the emails will be in your box.  Schedule some time to do the daily action tasks, and watch that product start growing right before your eyes.

Moreover, Tim Conley’s going to be doing the PRODUCT 30 challenge right along with you.  Through his blog posts, you’ll get to see inside his own creation process, and how he’s progressing on his very own product-in-a-month project.  He’ll be right there in the trenches with you, and is sure to have valuable insights for everyone playing along.

At the end of the month, challenge finishers can send us the links to the product you completed, and we’ll be showing off all of your amazing work.

Better still, there’s a LIVE bonus on 11-11-11:

On November 11th, Tim will be hosting a free online webinar/workshop all about turning your content into cold, hard cash, so you’ll have a chance to think about the future of all this great stuff you’re cranking out.

Tim’s webinars are usually for members of Foolish University ONLY, but this one’s open to EVERY PARTICIPANT — it’s like getting a direct line to an expert.  It’s just the thing to keep you motivated for the second half of the month.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with.

(p.s.  It’s much easier to do than writing a whole novel.)

We can do that.  Here are two, in .png and .gif form that you can use.  Please link them back here, so your readers can find out what it is that you’re going on about in all your November blog entries.  Just right-click (or option-click on a Mac) and save the image to use on your blog or website.

Thank you for Plan 30, it’s so incredible that you are giving this away. A step by step education and action experience combined together like this is genius!
I am just getting started on the path to my own business this past month. I’m relatively lucky in this economy. I have a job with a good employer that has great benefits by the way these things are measured. Most importantly health insurance that takes care of my wife and two young kids, one who has type I diabetes.) I’m paying all my bilIs, have not gone any further into debt for the last couple of years, and we’re even able to let Mom stay at home and take care of all of the medical / household duties… but it’s an extremely tight budget that doesn’t allow for the basic luxuries most middle class families take for granted, or even a real college savings plan for my kids.I need to keep my day job for the foreseeable future to take care of my family… but it’s not enough and I can’t stay in the trap of being satisfied with just barely making it. There’s also something else lacking. I am just the kind of person that isn’t going to be satisfied creating someone else’s vision and accepting what is arbitrarily allotted to me by others. I don’t accept the judgement that this is all I am worth and all I can be. Being stuck simply isn’t acceptable.I’m hoping to at least accelerate the process of getting rid of my debt and provide a better lifestyle for my family by believing in my foolish dreams. Maybe one day my vision will be the one that provides  for my family.Foolish University has reminded me, first and foremost, TAKE ACTION. BOLD ACTION NOW.So far I have - Defined a vision of the freedom and purpose I want to achieve in my life.- Worked to get family and friends “on my side” or at least tolerating my new mindset instead of completely fighting against my ambitions to improve our lives.- Done some very basic business and local community research. Which means I have a lot of information floating around right now that I don’t know what to do with!-  I have been trying to nail down a good niche.     I have many years of experience in supporting technology in different industries, and even have some internet business start-up time under my belt (as a contractor / employee). I have always liked  to “tinker” with technology even when I’m not at my day job getting paid for it… I’m trying hard not to let tinkering distract me from actually making money and taking a shorter path to obtaining real independence and freedom.Unfortunately as technology has grown I am finding that tech skills are more and more being taken for granted in today’s world. Lots of amazing technical skills are looked at as cheap commodities now.  I’m also trying to make sure that my work doesn’t totally take me away from my family. On a good day, I have the typical crummy 3-4 hour commute each day, so if I’m very lucky and I leave work a little early and get in to work a little late I can manage to spend 2-4 hours a day either with my family or doing something about taking control of my life before I am completely exhausted. That’s it – 2-4 hours on a GOOD day. Assuming there isn’t some technology “emergency ” or “urgent project” requiring me to work after hours or on the weekend, usually due to someone else’s neglect, poor planning, or misplaced expectations. That isn’t a jab at my current employer, which is about the best traditional employment an employee could want. It’s simply a common recurring theme of working in technology, or actually, as far as I can tell, being an employee for anyone. So I’m trying to figure out how to incorporate my family time and a business together. Is that asking too much? Somehow I am going to make it work. I’ve started by just building some basic web sites with my kids to help them express their fun and creativity. Maybe there is a niche to merge the two together somehow? “Using the web to share real life experiences and creativity with your kids!” There is something around that concept on the tip of my tongue. As a bonus, I’m feeding my kids creative spirit and might even teach them something about business they could use in life. Although their minds are so pure and clear right now that sometimes I think they are the ones that are actually teaching me.Is there a market – an urgent need to fill (hard working parents that want to connect with their increasingly tech connected kids, and kids that need to be connected with their parents whether they know it or not)?Would that market pay for something that is able to fill this urgent need? How can I experience an internet business with my kids, and help others experience something like this too?- I set aside a small monthly funding for starting the business from my tight budget. Meaning I’m selling my golf clubs (full set of ping zing irons and a driver / putter / bag… anyone email me an offer if interested!) and I’m brown-bagging my lunch EVERY day now, and using the money I save from eating lunch out to fund my business monthly… The great thing about this is that there is so little risk and barrier to entry that I can manage it without going into debt. I’m sure the small up front sacrifice of a few lunches is going to pay off… I can still stand to lose a few more pounds anyway! That should hopefully be enough funding each month to get me a starter kit.  I figure at the most basic level I need to be able to fund         - a subscription to a site like yours where I can find additional mentoring and a like minded community. (I havent’ signed up for it yet because I’m waiting for a deposit to clear! Signing up as soon as it does! )         - basic email, web hosting, and mail management services- Take Action! I registered a few domain names and set up some of the accounts / services I will need, and experimented with some of the specific technology I have heard from your podcast.- ??? Not sure what the next thing is :)  I’d love to be able to outsource a lot of the work but at the moment that’s not going to be do-able! Things are just that tight. I will have to get some basic money coming in above my minimal expenses before I can put more money into the business. My wife is an incredible help in this, she’s already got the yard sales cranking up again to get some more cash flow freed up.

You might want to put a new landing page for “subscribed”. I’ve already seen this page.

And instead of another signup-confrimation email, did you consider doing different stages of free membership; sorry, I’ve been playing with Wishlist Member. :)

  • http://FoolishAdventure.com Tim Conley

    Ken,
Good point. I haven’t built a subscribed landing page for the P30 email list yet. I need to get on that.
I decided not to do it as a free membership. I don’t want any barrier to people participating. Even the email opt-in is only there so I don’t bug people with P30 updates who don’t want it.
Eventually, P30 will be a product in some form and we may even charge for it at that time.

I’ve been trying finish our first product for a couple of months now so hopefully this will help drive me to finally complete it. I’m about 70% there already, just need to push on! My new year resolution this year was to make £1 from our website. A tiny goal I know but we had our first baby in March and I wanted to make sure that my goal was achievable. Fingers crossed I’ll cross this goal of in about 30 days!

I’ve printed out three of these to put in my home office and other plainly visible locations within my home; I can’t hide :)

  • Elli

You can put it anywhere you want, Brenda…as long as you’re making the commitment to yourself. :)  Welcome to the trenches!

  • Elli

There are no tiny goals, Craig.  Every person who’s successful now had to make that first dollar, and it’s a great first step.  Glad to have you here, and congrats on that new baby!

  • Elli

Thomas — your enthusiasm and outlook are just plain INSPIRING.  You can’t see me, but I’m waving the pom-poms and cheering in your direction. :)

Reading your message, I did a little looking around at the idea of teaching kids business/technology, and it seems like there’d be a really decent little niche there if that’s the direction you end up focusing on, too.  Go, you!

  • Elli

You can’t see me right now, but if you could, you’d see a disheveled writer standing up and CHEERING TO BEAT THE BAND, Billy!

    Now THAT’s some commitment!  WOOHOO!
